Smoke, heat and CO alarms.
Since 1 February 2022 every home in Scotland needs interlinked smoke and heat alarms, and a carbon monoxide alarm wherever there's a fuel-burning appliance or a flue. We fit mains-powered or sealed-battery interlinked systems and test the lot.

What’s covered
- A smoke alarm in the living room or the room used most
- A smoke alarm in every hallway and landing
- A heat alarm in the kitchen
- A CO alarm beside any boiler, fire or flue
- Interlinking so one going off sets them all off
- Checks as part of planned maintenance
Straight answers.
Do alarms have to be mains powered?
No. Sealed tamper-proof long-life battery alarms are allowed, as long as they're interlinked. We'll recommend what suits the property.
Does a CO alarm need to be interlinked?
It doesn't have to be, but linking it to the smoke and heat alarms gives better protection, so we'll offer it where it makes sense.
